Orbit Accounting has joined Prime Partners.
This marks an important step in strengthening the service and support clients receive. In this interview, Greg Dennis, Co-founder of Orbit, and James Carey, Director at Prime Partners, talk through why the merge made sense, what clients can expect and how the combined team is positioned for the future.
A Conversation with Greg Dennis and James Carey.
James: Greg, Orbit has always had a clear purpose. Why did you feel this was the right time to merge with Prime Partners?
Greg: Orbit has always been about helping people feel more confident and in control. As the work became more detailed and expectations grew, I knew we needed a deeper level of support behind us. Prime Partners gives us that. The merge allows us to deliver a higher standard of service while holding onto the personal, grounded approach clients know us for.
James: What made Prime Partners feel like the natural fit?
Greg: Culture was the biggest factor. Prime Partners has a calm, genuine and steady way of supporting clients. They focus on doing things strategically whilst still looking after people with care. That is how Orbit operates as well. They also invest heavily in advisory, workflow and technology which helps us offer a clearer and more connected experience. The merge felt right because both teams value clarity, honesty and practical support.

What Clients Can Expect.
James: What will clients notice first now that Orbit Accounting has joined Prime Partners?
Greg: Clients will notice more support behind the scenes. There is more depth in the team and more access to specialists when they are needed. What stays the same is how we communicate. We keep things calm, clear and easy to understand. Clients should feel grounded when they work with us. That is something we have always cared about.
James: What new strengths or services can clients now access within Prime Partners?
Greg: They will feel a stronger level of support around them. There is more advisory depth, more access to specialist insight and a team that works together in a very integrated way. Communication becomes easier as well because Prime Partners has a team focused entirely on client experience. What this creates is a more connected process and a clearer, more confident journey for clients.
Greg: James, something I keep getting asked is whether the Orbit approach is going to change. How do you reassure clients about that?
James: The Orbit approach is one of the reasons we wanted this partnership. Their communication style, their ability to simplify complex decisions and the care they show clients are all qualities we value. None of that will change. Clients will see the same Orbit team working in the same way they always have, now supported by a larger group with more depth and more resources. The core Orbit experience stays the same and our intention is to help it grow even stronger.

Looking Ahead.
James: What do you hope the combined team achieves in the years ahead?
Greg: I want us to be a team that brings clarity and calm to people as their financial world evolves. Whether life becomes more complex or simply more demanding, we want to offer steady guidance. Prime Partners has the systems and advisory depth that allow us to deliver that at a higher level.
James: What does this mean for clients who are growing quickly or facing complex challenges?
Greg: They will feel supported in a stronger way. We now have access to a deeper pool of expertise which means stronger support when things grow or shift. Instead of clients needing to coordinate different elements themselves, we can help bring everything together more seamlessly. It creates a clearer path forward and helps reduce the stress that often comes with managing multiple moving parts.
Why the Move to North Sydney Matters.
James: Orbit Accounting was based in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs for many years. Why move to North Sydney?
Greg: The Eastern Suburbs played a big part in Orbit’s story. The move to North Sydney helps us work more closely with the full Prime Partners team which strengthens how we collaborate and support clients. It also places us closer to people who spend much of their time around the CBD and the North Shore. The change in location gives us a better base and more resources which lifts the way we work day to day.
Team, Culture and Values.
James: Orbit always had a warm, straightforward tone with clients. How does that continue at Prime Partners?
Greg: By staying committed to clarity and honesty. Good advice should feel understandable and manageable, not overwhelming. Prime Partners has a strong client experience framework that supports that approach. The personal tone clients are used to will not change. What improves is the structure that helps us deliver consistently.
James: What excites you most about your team joining Prime?
Greg: Seeing them grow. They now have access to more learning and more experienced specialists around them. They work across a wider range of situations which builds their capability. We still feel like a close team although we now have the stability and strength of a larger firm behind us. It is a balance that works.

Greg’s Approach and What It Means for Clients.
James: Greg, you have worked with a wide range of SMEs and growing families over the years. What will you personally bring to Prime Partners clients as you step into this new role?
Greg: I bring a strategic mindset that comes from spending many years inside businesses, helping owners understand how their decisions shape long term outcomes. My work has always centered on clarity and direction. I like helping people see the bigger picture and making things feel manageable.
A big part of my approach is focusing on what the client actually wants, not what others think success should look like. Some people want growth, some want more time, some want less pressure and more stability. My role is to understand their real goals and guide them in a way that supports the life they want, rather than pushing them toward a version of success that does not fit.
I also bring a calm, practical style that keeps conversations grounded. Joining Prime means I can offer that same approach with more support behind me which strengthens the way clients experience guidance across the whole firm
Greg: James, in your view, why is this the right time for a move like this?
James: Clients are facing more complexity, more choice and more pressure to make clear decisions about their future. This is the time when strong teams matter most. By joining Orbit and Prime Partners, we can offer more support, more strategic thinking and a wider set of capabilities in one place. Both teams were ready for a step that creates more certainty for clients and more opportunity for our people. The timing felt right and the cultural alignment made the decision simple.
In Summary.
The merge between Orbit Accounting and Prime Partners brings together two teams with aligned values and a shared focus on clarity, confidence and thoughtful support. Now that Orbit Accounting has joined Prime Partners, clients benefit from broader expertise, stronger advisory capability and a more connected service experience while still receiving the warm, straightforward guidance they have always valued.
